Vacation Time in Cambodia

After 1 year of continuous service an employee is entitled to paid leave for 18 working days per year. Leave accrues at 1.5  days per month of continuous service. Vacation time increases with the seniority of the employee. For example, employees receive 1 additional day paid leave for every three years of service.


Types of Leave in Cambodia

Sick Leave:

Sick leave in Cambodia includes leave for up to 6 months if the employee has been certified ill by a qualified medical practitioner. Law does not provide for paid sick leave however employers normally provide paid sick leave as follows:

  • 100% of wages during the 1st month of sick leave
  • 60% of wages during the 2nd & 3rd months of sick leave 
  • Unpaid leave from the 4th until the 6th month.

Maternity Leave:

Maternity leave in Cambodia is at least 90 days. The employee is paid half of regular wages, including other benefits, as long as they have accrued 1 year of continuous service with the employer. 

Other Types of Leave:

  • Special: Matters affecting an immediate family member.

Termination & Severance in Cambodia


Severance is typically required in Cambodia, unless in case of redundancy. However, other payments may be required in certain specific circumstances. Please contact us with any questions.

Notice of Termination:

Notice of termination in Cambodia changes according to the length of service, as follows:

  •  Up to 6 months of employment- 7 days’ notice
  •  6 months to 2 years of employment- 15 days’ notice
  •  2-5 years of employment- 1 months’ notice
  •  5-10 years of employment- 2 months’ notice
  •  10 year of employment- 3 months’ notice
